Volunteer Educator
Warning Zone is a child safeguarding charity based at Frog Island in Leicester. We use interactive, life-like scenarios to educate children about the risks and consequences associated with certain types of behaviour, both in the real world and online.
We work mainly with Year 6 pupils (10/11 years old) where children visit as part of a school trip, spending the day in our facility from 09.30 – 14.30.
Warning Zone offers a voluntary role like no other. We are always on the lookout for new and enthusiastic volunteers to join our team and our vacancy for Volunteer Educators is open year round. Our volunteers help children to lead safer lives and reduce risks by delivering crucial safety messages to children who are at a particularly influential age.
Tasks
- Learn lesson plans in order to deliver well communicated key messages to the pupils.
- Guide the Year 6 pupils in the Zones on a daily basis from 9.00-12 or 12.00- 2.30. This involves teaching approx. 8 pupils on key lessons plans around safety or e-safety.
- Assist Visit Manager with end of session activities such as quiz in e-safety, grouping pupils on arrival, supervising departure of schools at the end of the day, collating leaflets for schools to distribute to pupils following their visit.
- Help to train, coach and develop new volunteers.
- Support with ideas for social media posts, updates on lesson plans, raising awareness of relevant news stories.

Training Full training will be provided on site by staff and experienced volunteers. New volunteers will:
- Receive detailed lesson plans and flash cards both of which require learning
- Shadow live sessions
- Take part in practice sessions and training as required
- Be allocated a mentor
- Deliver activities with support
- Receive positive feedback and advice on areas requiring development
- Deliver learnt lesson plans to children independently.
